Hot Towel Massage?
When I arrived at
this busy White
Rock Day Spa,
I found the entrance
full of clients. Some
waiting to check in,
others seated drinking
beverages and others
receiving manicures
off to one side of
the lobby, which was
adorned with product
and jewelry meant
to tempt.
After registering,
I was escorted to
the changing room
which was beyond lovely,
and with every attention
to detail considered.
I noted baskets of
warm cloths, blow
dryers, hair product
and face and body
creams. After changing
into a luxurious robe,
I was escorted into
a private sitting
room, where I was
offered a beverage
while I awaited my
attendant. The room
was warm and rich,
with comfortable sofas
and chairs.
My attendant appeared
very shortly and escorted
me, through rich terra
cotta hallways and
into the hydrotherapy
room for my tub. While
I enjoyed my bath,
I noted that the jets
lacked the power of
other hydrotherapy
tubs I've experienced.
After my hydrotherapy
tub, I found my way
back to the sitting
room where I was,
again, offered a beverage
which I declined.
My attendant arrived
shortly, and escorted
me to the massage
room to begin my therapy.
The attendant, a floater
from another salon,
inquired about my
preferences and explained
that she liked to
use hot towels during
her massage, at which
point, I wondered
about my massage?
My massage was above
average but certainly
not the best I've
experienced. While
I did enjoy the hot
towel wraps, I noted
that less time and
attention was spent
on the full body massage
I was there to receive.
While I didn't have
a pedicure, I noticed
that the pedicure
room had multiple
chairs and clients,
not a private room
as I prefer.
While this spa is
probably considered
one of the best White
Rock Spas, as witnessed
by the busy entrance,
it won't be one I'll
hurry back to. While
some may like the
hot towel wraps, I
prefer the massage. |

Ritzy Pedicure
I experienced
a fabulous Ritzy
Pedicure with
Starla at the
Nail Bar &
Beauty Boutique
in Delta, BC.
The bar is fun
and upbeat,
with friendly
staff! They
graciously accommodated
me as this was
a spur of the
moment, apres
shopping rest
stop and I was
without an appointment.
My attendant,
Starla was a
lovely, warm
young woman
who seemed to
genuinely enjoy
her job. I was
seated in a
very comfortable,
heated pedicure
chair and enjoyed
a deliciously
scented bubble
soak, followed
by cuticle care
and nail shaping.
Starla smoothed
out my calcalluses,
buffed out ridges
and a gave me
a soothing massage
before polishing
my toes.
Thank you Starla!

Magnificent
Massage
Despite the hustle
and bustle of the
central White Rock
/ South Surrey location,
I was inspired by
a sense of quiet
as I was escorted
into the hydrotherapy
room at the Shadaai
Day Spa.
The room was designed
with soft taupes,
and even softer
lighting. My masseuse
left me to undress
and I slipped into
the warmth of the
tub. The jets alternated,
and addressed the
different muscle
groups of my body.
I laid back and
relaxed for 15 minutes,
at which point the
tub shut down and
started to drain.
After slipping into
a lovely robe, I
was escorted into
the massage room
which was equally
tranquil, complete
with scented candles
and soft music.
My masseuse was
a young woman by
the name of Tia
and as she laid
her hands on me,
I thought, "god
bless you!"
She inquired regarding
my preference for
soft or hard pressure
and set about my
massage. And it
was absolutely heavenly!
As our time came
to a close, I considered
reaching for my
wallet to begin
again!
I would not hesitate
to recommend this
day spa massage.

Pedicure on the
Beach
This White Rock
Day Spa is located
on Marine Drive on
White Rock beach and
has been pampering
for over 20 years
now.
Owner Louise Warner
and Manager Angela
Sparrow went out of
their way to make
my visit memorable,
and I got the feeling
that they treat all
their clientelle very
well. I enjoyed a
wonderful pedicure
in a private booth,
with soft music playing
in the background
and, certainly, I
felt pampered.
While it was sometime
ago, and I can't remember
the womans name who
did my pedicure, I
can say that she was
accomplished, thorough
and generous. When
I informed her that
I wore orthotics and
experienced pain in
my feet, she performed
reiki on me and finished
with an exceptional
massage.
And when I was finished,
I enjoyed a cafe au
lait while I waited
for my toes to dry.
